Those cheap lenses are fun to collect. They're far from perfect but that's what makes them fun (and their cheap price). You know that you have something special since so many people got rid of their old lenses. And while many people run away from it, I find that defects such as astigmatism can make an image readily recognizable and pleasing when used properly. You'll never find a lens that blurs objects into rectangles today. Even if you don't like the defects; for the price, it's just all fun anyway and a great way to experiment.
I've been shooting with a 12$ for the past 4 weeks...
