F770 vs F550 direct sun shot

One of the disappointments I've had with my F550 is its kaleidoscope flaring around bright light sources such as streetlights at night and direct shots of the sun. I had hoped the new F770 would correct this, so when my local camera store just got some F770 cameras in stock I gave one the crucial test of direct sun and I'm sad to report I don't see much difference between the F770 and my F550, so I see no reason to replace my F550 with an F770. Fuji is proving unable to deal with this problem. Very sad and disappointing.

This leaves giving the Canon SX260 HS a look if a CHDK hack is issued for it to allow saving to RAW format.
