Advice for a new A55 owner on learning to use EVF?

I just purchased the A55, which is my first SLR. The primary reason for my purchase was because my mom gifted me a huge and fabulous array of high-quality Konica Minolta lenses -- amazing!

However, I'm having trouble making peace with the EVF. When I am shooting 10 fps, I feel like I'm not really seeing what's going on as it's happening. I'd read all the reviews before I purchased the camera, so I knew this was coming, but I'm struggling with learning how to adapt.

Is it fair to assume that just like using a SLR camera takes practice and training, using the EVF will take the same? And if so, can anyone offer any suggestions to help me learn faster?
