And the issue was is the resolution of D3x higher here than of M9.

Not at all. Bayer sensors will often create false colors (chromatic aliasing) at their resolution limit. You'll notice (if your vision is decent ) that one image has reached that limit and is full of false color. The other has not and is not. It's pretty straight-forward, really.
