Loaded Question

Hey All

I know this is a loaded question, but i have to ask, as if i asked anywhere else i wont get a photo/video users point of view. I am looking at upgrading my Photo/Video PC. I use Adobe Lightroom 4 and am thinking of using Adobe Premier Elements 10 for video editing.

Here is my loaded question... iMac versus Windows (Laptop or Desktop)

I currently use a Windows systems. I have read so far that desktop is more powerful for the $$$. The portability is not a big factor for me, so i guess laptop would be out.

If desktop is a solution, what specs should i look at getting. I have always built gaming PCs, never a photo/video PC, so help on specs is important, and screen.

In terms of budget, i am a prosumer (a photo enthusiast), NOT a professional. So spending oodles of cash is out! cant justifying spending multiple thousands.

I am something that is enough so i can continue enjoying my hobby in the future.
