V1 for safari?
Mar 15, 2012

I have a friend that is going to Africa this summer. She has a Nikon D80 and various lenses, but wants to keep the amount/size of gear down to a minimum and is perhaps looking to buy a new camera in order to do so. Would the V1 with the 2 lens kit combo be a reasonable camera to take? I have the J1 (and D700), but was thinking the EFV of the V1would be handy in the harsh sun. Not sure 30-110 would be long enough for big game shots, though if she got the FT1 adapter, she could use my 70-300 VR lens, making for a small kit with some nice reach.

Anybody have any idea how the V1 would perform in a safari situation? Especially with the 70-300/adapter?

Thanks!
