Is 1.3x dead?

I waited a while after the MK IV thinking Canon was going to replace it with a 1.3x crop factor camera as well. We were all wrong.

As a Bird Photographer primarily, the 1D X will not help me get closer even using my Canon 800mm lens and now with the 1D X not focusing at f/8 is even more devastating.

I have no issues spending the money but it doesn't make sense for me, so I purchased a new 1D MK IV and a 5D MKIII that will last me for many years to come and will still have a amazing image quality.
