You summed it up quite well. I jumped on the offer of the D5100 because I got it refurbished at a good price. I now nearly regret my decision after having operated the D90 for a while and prematurely thought the D5100 would be better simply because of the increase in resolution and ISO. I was sorely mistaken!

Since I've owned both the D90 and D7000, I would recommend the D7k if you can nab it below US$1000. It will feel much like the D90, but it exceeds the D90 in nearly every technical factor, albeit incrementally.
