  • If the camera is set to manual focus by default and focus peaking on, when autofocus is turned on (say via pressing AF button in toggle mode), focus peaking is temoprarily removed. This gives great visual feedback to let you know if the camera is in auto-focus or manual focus. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work the other way around. That is, if the camera is set to auto focus by default and focus peaking is turned on, then focus peaking remains whether the camera is set to auto or manual focus. (Suppose can be useful in itself if you want to see if the camera has got it's auto-focus right.)

Wish-list: Wouldn't it be great if a custom key could be set for focus peaking and manual focus assist (at least when manual focus assist turned off in the menu). Also I noticed that the focus function setting (toggled via the button to the right of the shutter) only allows change of focus mode. There is great opportunity to use the unmapped custom buttons to access focus peaking and manual focus assist there should Sony build this in to future firmware versions.
