Just bought an SLT a35. Thoughts on adding 35mm 1.8 lense?

Hi! I've just bought myself an SLT a35, and I'm delighted with it so far. My question is whether I would notice a difference in image quality if I buy the DAT 35mm f1.8 sony lense. It's about three stops better than the kit lense, so I will probably get it for that anyway, but could someone who owns both the kit lense and this one please tell me if I can expect to see a difference. Thanks!
