D200 with 300f4ED (non D) and Nikon doubler
Mar 10, 2012

My friend has a D200 and often borrows my 300f4 (non D) AF lens that I used on my F100. He also uses my Nikon 2x teleconverter (the old one with the protruding element that fits back into the telephoto lens). This effectively is a 600f8 non AF combination. I was pretty sure you can use this in aperture priority, but couldn't remember where to set the lens aperture--maximum or minimum? We had some severely overexposed shots with the highlights completely washed out. Do we need to tell the camera this is a non CPU lens (the doubler doesn't have CPU contacts) with the effective maximum aperture? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
