Used D700 Market Buyer Beware
Mar 9, 2012

Not too long ago I wrote about my experience buying a used D700 advertised to have 6,700 shutter clicks that really had 207,774.

Today I received my second used D700, advertised to have 7,400 shutter clicks that really has 17,728. That's not nearly as bad as the first incident, and the camera appears in all other ways to be in really great shape.

I am amused to see some D700s listed on eBay as "mint" with tens of thousands of actuations. However, I respect the sellers for being honest about the count.

I will venture that if someone lists a used camera with under 10,000 actuations, they're probably going by the file number on the last photo they took rather than the EXIF shutter count value.

Anyone having the same luck buying a used D700?
