I know...I was just kidding...I'm not spending $850 bucks to get wifi. That said, based on user reviews of eye-fi on cameras that do 'officially' work, its still too slow for my purposes....Nothing beats the reliability and speed of directly tethering with a USB cable at this point...but I want to to simultaneously transfer photo to lightroom and view the image instantly on an external HDMI connected display (ideally ipad) but ipad doesn't work...only standard HDMI displays...

Not sure about any changes to iPad 3 connectivity? Are you shooting low res jpgs to go to iPad? If just a few shots vai an N rated router you should get 4-8sec per image. I get 7-18sec in direct mode depending on distance etc, but over a normal G rated router I get 5-9sec.

Now call me old fashioned, I had to wait over a minute whilst using Polaroids to check lighting, exposure etc in film days. I can sure blag 5-9sec wait whilst images appear in the iPad. I find that I shoot 2-3 images in the lighting, poses etc then check iPad, adjust anything and discuss images with model, client then continue shoot. Images just keep uploading during the shoot, so long as not ramming the buffer too much. The RAW files I upload to the computer/laptop during breaks between shots/locations.

Works for me, just think the MKiii will be faster and enable seperate RAW storage. Then I can just shoot all day changing the CF cards only, the Eye-Fi 8GB I will never fill at low res jpgs size!
