I bought a second hand tamron 17-50 f2.8 this week for 150€

I must say I am impressed with the scharpness of the lens and its l a lot better then my sigma 24-60 f2.8.

Lucky guy, where you the guy that grabbed just before my nose?

I agree with the poster who said that 50mm is quite short.
On the other hand its the same as an 28-75 on fullframe.

That is my thought too I had a 28-105 minolta AS whith my 700i in the past but that was stolen:( And yes the range is always just to short:)

The tamron also gives a quite good bokeh @ f3.5
I am not a (semi) pro but have some lenses to compare

Tamron SP AF 17-50 F2.8 XR Di II
Sony AF DT 18-55 F3.5-5.6 SAM
Minolta AF DT 18-70 F3.5-5.6 D
Sigma 24-60 F2.8 EX DG
Minolta AF 28-85 F3.5-4.5
Minolta AF 28-135 F4-4.5 (golden handshake) 2 times
Tamron AF 28-300 F3.5-6.3 XR Di
Minolta AF 50 F1.4
Minolta AF 50 F1.7
Minolta AF 70-210 F4 (beercan)
Minolta AF 75-300 F4.5-5.6 (big beercan)
Kenko Pro 300 teleconverter 1.4X
Kenko Pro 300 teleconverter 2X

WOW that is quite a list
What are your favorites?
How did you manage to end um with so many?

If you live near the Belgian border you can always try a few shots with mine
(I live near Antwerp)

I keep that as a rain check;)

One thing I also discovered that it is possible to order a lens, and try it to see how it is and we have the right to return it (if you handle it with great care) So maybe I just orger a sample One of the internet schops is around the corner
