The A77 is a 24MP aps-c sensor and costs 1400 bucks on amazon.com. For an SLT the change from aps-c to FF is relatively modest in principle, the a-mount is already FF. Higher prices will depend on whether they will widen the AF points away from the centre, increase the buffer, improve the EVF and obviously the sensor itself costs more.

I'm of the understanding that the sensor is by far the largest cost component of a DSLR.

From Wikipedia, a FF sensor costs up to 20X that of APS-C. I've read other quotes that says 8-10X.

Of course if Sony manages to improve the yield significantly then costs will come down.

But I think expectations of a $1500-$2000 FF camera at launch is highly optimistic, although not impossible.
