Using ex lenses on FF sensor...question

This is probably a really dumb question but I was wondering, if you use a FF sensor with an ex lens and you reduce the MP resolution of the sensor, will this have the effect of reducing the size of the sensor to To allow the use of EX lenses? Or does this cause the sensor to just have less available pixels?
