Fellow camera buffs,
Like many of you I started in photography decades ago, with Minolta SRT 101, Nikormat, Nikon F2SB Photomic, Canon Rebel, Nikon D90, Lumix GH1, Lumix GH2, Lumix G3, Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 7D and a Canon 60D. I have also had numerous lenses and I have worked my way to my current stable. In the last few years I sold the 5D Mark II to buy the 7D. The 5D Mark II was simply too large and I am a geek. I pixel peep. Give me a zillion things to adjust and set and I will adjust and set them all and end up with an excellent photo quality wise and of no value interest wise as it took me so long. So I got the 7D. It was a bit smaller, faster fps and after lord knows how many hours testing, I could simply not see any real advantage to the full frame of the 5D Mark II at any reasonable reproduction size I could envision. But alas it too was large and I became enamored of the mirrorless four third cameras, the GH1, GH2 and G3. Unbelievable technology and quality. Superb photos and videos. But I sold my only automatic transmission car for a standard shift because I just like shifting and I just missed the mirror. So I was going to get another 7D but realized that the 60D was perfect for me in every way. Same basic sensor. Beautiful fidelity, colors, dynamic range. Slightly smaller. So I purchased the 60D and could not have been happier. Alas, for unrelated reasons I need to get out of photography so I have some absolutely superb equipment to sell. I WANT TO SELL EVERYTHING AS A PACKAGE SO I AM SENDING THIS EMAIL TO VARIOUS PHOTO CLUBS. I AM IN THE UP0STATE ALBANY NY AREA. The equipment is absolutely first class. Lenses are stunning and clean and scratch, dust free. So, what am I selling?
The total cost now at B&H (the only place to shop) is approximately $5,216 plus approx. $400 tax for a total of approx. $5,600. I want to sell it all for $4,000 firm. Note there is 70-300 DO (Diffractive optics) which is an amazing piece of engineering and a 70-300 L which is probably one pixel sharper. But the DO is smaller. I got the 18-200 Canon with the 60D initially instead of the 18-135 which is, I think, the standard lens because the 18-200 seemed a little sharper and more family tolerance when I put it on and left it on. I also have the Canon 50 mm f1.8. Also the Canon 430 II flash and an infrared remote shutter. I have the Canon lens hoods for each lens except one which I prefer with a rubber collapsable hood. BUT DESPITE THE DO AND THE L LENS AND THE 18-200, and the Nifty Fifty, MY FAVORITE, WITHOUT ANY DOUBT IS THE 15-85 LENS. IT IS SIMPLY THE BEST ALL AROUND LENS I HAVE EVER HAD, BAR NONE.
I do want to sell it as a package and not piecemeal. If you are in the NY capital district I will be happy to show the equipment to you. I can be reached at ssscomp@nycap.rr.com or 518 441-2379.
