The saddest thing about the 5d3 is that Canon's own userbase is panning it.

Panning is the wrong word
In reply to Bernard Carns, Mar 5, 2012

At most, current owners are saying, based on first impressions, that the MK III doesn't compel them to upgrade. That's hardly a pan. Canon don't expect lots of MK II users to trade up, because the improvements, though real, are incremental.

But they do expect people like me, who have been waiting for the feature set they want, to buy in. I have a 20D with L glass and have wanted a FF model but have been put off by the slower performance of the 5Ds. Now, with 6 FPS, I'm ready to spring. Other improvements will be the tipping point for others.

What makes my market different from others is I don't already have an investment in 5Ds, which might otherwise cause me pause because of the higher price. So my guess is that with the MK III Canon want more to bring people to FF photography (or over from Nikon) than to make those already in trade up.

Anyway, wait til the reviews. That's where you'll see genuine pans, if any.
