You misunderstood what I was trying to say.

I'm asking why do lens manufacturers even bother to give you a choice of manual focusing in AF lenses if, according to you:

"Stop! Why stand around manually focusing?"

Besides, there are still some lenses that don't exist for certain mounts. For example, I have a Zuiko 135mm f/2.8 and there simply isn't an alternative in the mft world yet.

Because they are "Modern Designs" for the newer cameras. I guess to make them work with auto focusing is either beyond their capability, or they want to keep prices down.

You don't see the big name companies like Nikon, Canon, coming out with manual focusing lenses.
