Slave mode while using HSS

I'm going to buy my first external flash (probably it will be Sony HVL-F42AM) and at the beginning I'll be using slave mode to sychronize flash with the camera.
I'm really impressed with strobe photography, and one of the key points is to have HSS ability. This flash provides it, but I'm asking you - will slave mode work with HSS?
