They will reduce the price, regardless.

Right now, they're doing the same thing they did with the 60D. The 60d started out at $1100. Within about 6 months, the price went down $100. Another 6 months later, it was consistently $899.

If the 5DIII follows the same Canon strategy, in about a year's time, it will be about $2900....sounds about right, doesn't it?

Right now Canon is picking off the buyers who would buy the camera at any price that falls somewhere in the range of reasonable...they've found this a good marketing strategy.

And that's why I waited 2 years after release to buy my Mark II. I'll do the same with the Mark III.
