40mm, odd focal length?

Hi everyone,

I'm always surprized when people qualify the 40mm (60mm equiv.) as an odd focal length. There have been numerous 58mm 1.4 in the past and I used too shoot a lot with them without having any trouble regarding the field of view. 50 and 58/60 aren't that different in my opinion, and as I used it mostly for portrait work I never noticed any real changes when going back to the "standard" 50mm.
