Sigh! (Hope they heard that at Pentax.)

Just read a description of EOS5DIII AF system and it's adjustment/control mechanism (responsiveness, sensitivity, etc.)

I suppose you could insert any one of a number of variables into the following statement. "If you don't get (fill in the blank) right, the rest doesn't matter."

I would put the word "Focus" in there probably because that's an area over which I have the least control (not counting manual adjustment for a cooperative and stationary subject) and it can't be tweaked after the fact. What's more, focus issues are like playing golf with fairways the width of sidewalks. If you're not down the middle, you're out of bounds. And no I don't have a K5 (yet) and yes I've struggled with "issues" related to artificial illumination and/or less-than-full-sun brightness affecting focus ability.

I do recognize that all brands have their issues (and that some "issues" are operator error), but I've seen the results (lots of shots, not "flukes" that were cherry picked) from an EOS50 (what's that...2 or 3 years old) with a fast zoom (wide open!) and the focus results are astounding under conditions (indoor swim meets) that cripple my Kr.

I also recognize that the performance one might get from that 5D comes with a pretty steep price and that if Pentax matched them I can't say for sure that I'd step up. Still, it's nice to imagine finding $6K (with no needs competing for those $$) and going to "Focus Nirvana" with a 5DIII and a 70-200/2.8. Add a new grip and a couple of those new radio-controlled flashes and now you're looking at Jeopardy prize money!
