Do you have the external microphone?

And what do you think about it?

As I understand it, this is our only option for an external microphone (short of a completely separate recording device), so it's not like we have a choice in the matter, but I couldn't find any threads discussing the actual performance of the microphone. Would owners of this accessory care to share their thoughts about it? Is it something to get excited over? To avoid?
