FZ 150: That little control wheel.
Feb 29, 2012

I just received my new FZ150 yesterday and of course spent a few hours getting familiar with it. First, let me say the photos I took are awesome and the camera is a keeper. BUT . . . I never see any complaints about that horribly user-unfriendly rear dial, and I find it to be incredibly awkward. Turning it requires deftly hooking a fingernail into one of the poorly-defined "traction grooves" on its edge. Just trying to turn it with my thumb (as apparently was the design intent) doesn't work, as my thumb cannot develop enough traction without inadvertently pushing in on the dial.

Does anyone else have this issue? Perhaps my camera has a flaw here? It's almost a deal-breaker for me, as I use the rear dial often. Fortunately, many of its uses can be duplicated with the cursor buttons, but not all of them.

I'd love to hear from others on this!
