Oly 40-150 poor performance?
Feb 26, 2012

I got my fourth and final lens for my G3 yesterday, the Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150 tele zoom, and took it for an outing today. Good weather, good light. I am horrified by the amount of chromatic aberration I see: the 100% crop from the full image shows how bad it is. EXIF data gives f5, 1/1000 sec, ISO 200, focal length 102mm. Nothing extreme there, I would have thought.

My questions are:
1. Is this because I'm using an Oly lens on a Pansonic camera?
2. Is it likely to be just a poor copy?
3. Am I being over-critical, and all Oly lenses do this on all cameras?

I'm surprised because this lens has a good reputation, and reading reviews before I bought, they said it behaved quite well as far as CA is concerned. Overall, I find the lens a bit soft, but I can probably live with that.

Your knowedgeable opinions are welcome!
