I like my f4 lens most

I must say, of all the L lenses I've had and owned, the fast primes win of course optically... but the f4 L is AS GOOD as the 2.8 zooms only less fast, but a lot smaller and more light.

I bought it for 550 dollars in Singapore new 8 years ago, it is the best money i have ever paid for a lens. I've used it on a 300d, 20d, 5d, 5d mark II. It still outresolves the 5d mark II, and it's even sharp wide open.

Best value for money lens in the canon lineup, imho, and none of the CA/distortion issues the non L primes/zooms have for example. Clean and sharp and light. It has that L quality smooth bokeh as well.

The Nikon version would be a great match with a d800, I would think.
Slower lenses does not mean, worse optical quality, always

I have travelled the world with it, never let me down.
With teleconverter you get vignetting wide open though.

I want to want a 2.8, simply cannot justify it - i'll use a prime if I need mor light and I like my trusty cheap old pro zoom too much.
