AF Point Expansion Problem 7d

I can set my 7d to use AF Point Expansion, but when I press the shutter instead of getting the single point with four surrounding points, I only get the single point (looks like Single Point AF). This is very odd, as I've set and used the AF Point Expansion previously. Like I said, everything is as it should be up to the point I press the shutter. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
