I don't think there are a couple of hundred thousand d800's in the warehouse waiting to be shipped. Chances are when they announced the new cameras, there were only a very few of the line that were considered the final product. The delay could be because their manufacturing lines aren't running at peak do to the earth quake damage the Sendai plant. If it is a mechanical issue with the shutter, it is probably better to stop the line make changes before production continues. There could be any number of reasons for the delays. Whatever the reason(s), the delay will not hurt Nikon too much.
