Upgrading to CS6 from CS3 w/eMac

Adobe will allow me to upgrade from CS3 to CS6 before the end of the year, but I will have to get a new iMac to do it as I have a 1ghz eMac now. This may sound silly, but will I be able to this, i.e., install the upgrade on the new computer that does not have my CS3?
