I'm skipping the D800 generation.

I see no logical reason to upgrade to the D800. There are some nice improvements but nothing ground breaking.

I feel sorry for people who buy this camera purely for the megapixels. I rarely have a situation where I have needed more detail when cropping a 12MP image.

So unless I really needed massive images for hefty cropping or printing, then it makes no sense to upgrade.

I would like to hear from other D700/D3 owners willing to skip this generation and why.
