Your 1400 should produce excellent results for a long long time...the omly thing about the 1400 is it's dye based. The only issue there (if this actually bothers you) is the life of the pring but if you properly frame your prints or keep those not framed yet in a dark box you should be very happy with your prints for a long time. Like the monitor you can always upgrade later on when "the one" printer of your dreams and needs comes along (and your pocketbook allows). With the Color Munki you'll be able to make good profiles for the new printer as well.

I like the results the 1400 gives and with it being dye based it's much less likely to clog.

The rest of your system sounds fine...not sure who advised you otherwise but sometimes people who really don't understand just "upgrade" or believe that becauses it's newer it's the only solution. You should be ablre to produce some stunning prints with your system the way it is and the color munki will only make things better once you get a handle on everything.

Good luck
