Calling all Ziess 24mm f1.8 owners

There has been much debate about this lens and if it's worth the asking price.
I guess the IQ, contrast, DOF etc are some of the reasons, but if you were contemplating buying this lens what type of photography does it best suit?
For example I understand that it's a low light lens and you can do shallow DOF, but is it worth the money if you were using it for landscapes or street photography.
Some threads have said that at some apertures the kit lens performed as well?
