I purchased this lens new in 1982 to use on a Pentax. It lived on different camera bodies through successive upgrades for almost 20 years. Even though I have switched to Nikon system, I still have the lens.

As you can guess from the above, optically, my copy was excellent. It is well built and reasonably compact. Only downside is a little slow by today's standards. I have even thought about picking up another copy in Nikon mount just to play with.... or nostalgia, not quite sure.

Although the range is not as useful on a reduced sensor, the optics are head and shoulders above any kit lens. I think you will have fun with it and probably surprised...makes you think what is really necessary to create to good images.
