It's our (the entrants) fault that the challenges don't work well.

Would you rather risk that or risk sandbagging having a bigger influence in the Challenges you have entered due to small numbers of votes ?

I used to hold the same opinion . . . I never voted in Challenges I entered . . . But I changed my mind . . . IMO it should be mandatory that we all vote on all entries in the Challenges we enter . . . that way there would be a guaranteed number of votes . . .

The Challenge Entry fee is the time it takes you to vote . . can't pay ? don't enter . . .

These are good points. I like your idea of mandatory voting, but I think it would not be necessary to implement it for all challenges.

It would fantastic, however, to be able to try out having some challenges where it is a requirement to vote on all other entries, if you have an entry yourself. I believe, such a "mandatory voting challenge" (MVC) could really work well.

The "regular" challenges could proceed in parallel, so that nobody is forced to enter an MVC. However, an incentive to enter an MVC would be that one can expect to get back a "reward" in form of lots of votes and bigger protection from sandbaggers etc..

I guess, dpreview's help would be needed to implement such a modified type of challenge...?
