Why would anyone buy $1000 fixed lens "rangefinders" like Fuji X100 or X10 ??

cameras such as the X100 fill a niche for many photographers and are very good at what they do which is photojournalism/street photography.

Many people use these to compliment their regular system.

The X100's fixed focal length would be suitable for about 70% of my shots, but I use equipment which is arguably just as good, more flexible, lighter, and cheaper.

The X100 is therefore a luxury item for me so I happily get by without it.
