How To Trigger Multiple Cameras Simultaneously?

I would like to set up mutiple cameras with different lenses and shooting positions in order to simultaneously capture multiple but different images of the same situation.

What is the best method and technique to trigger all of the cameras at the same time?

Does your chosen method allow auto focus to be activated on each camera?
