That's determined by the maximum value possible in a RAW file (about 4000 for the 12-bit files that Olympus uses). DxO style stops of DR = log2((max value-offset)/(std dev of black pixel values)). The offset is the average value of a black pixel.

For the E-M5, that's log2((4095-256)/s), where s seems to be in the range of 1.1 to 1.2.
