Confused between Nikon P7000 and Olympus E-PL1?

I was checking out PL1 in a nearby store today evening...it's kinda ok for me and I decided to go with it but is there a cap on shutter speed in different settings and at different ISO levels...

I observed (while checking in the store) that the shutter speed was limited to a max. of 1/160 ( lower speeds are accepted) is not changing (can't move for higher speeds) at f5.1 in "A" mode...is this usual and accepted or I misunderstood and went wrong??

If at all there are any caps (limits) in any PSAM models (for this camera)...Kindly let me know...
