Got my new Alien bees..now Im confused :) EEk

Hello all,

First off I would like to thank all that helped me in my decision. I received my Alien Bees Beginner Kit a few days ago..

So with that being said, I set it up in my livingroom and hooked it up to my camera to see how it all works, because I have NEVER used a flash lighting kit before, so it is all new to me..

I have been changing and trying different modes on my camera and pretty much every single picture I take is WHITE...like it's wayyy to much lighting...

Please don't come on here and tell me how stupid I am and all that..I already know..I just need HELP, this is my FIRST time doing this, and I AM a beginner so I really don't need people lashing out at me.
Maybe someone can help me as to what setting to try...

Also, I did not have a background set up with anything I was just taking regular shots of a teddy bear sitting in the room...
