Baryta paper... What it is?

Hi there.
What is a specialty of that paper coating?
I have a few samples from Ilford, Inkpress, Hahnemuhle (3), Canson etc.

Tried to print (Canon 9000II dye) B&W or Color prints. Not really impressed with results.

Prints looks like have "foggy" coat. It is hard to resist to wipe off "dust" to achieve clarity.
I know "old school" folks like Baryta coating but really - what is a buzz?
