As a newbie to video and after a couple of months of research, I decided on the Lumix GH2. One of my main considerations was weight, because of backpacking into out of the way places with body, two lenses and a tripod. Eventually I want to obtain footage that will be good enough to go in a documentary that might be submitted to someone like the History channel.

Contacting these channels is not as easy as it seemed, so my main question for those of you who might have already been down this path is, would GH2 footage be acceptable for submission for documentary quality, some of which these days is extraordinarily high quality and no doubt shot with very expensive cameras? If so, what is the best format to shoot it in, or convert it to for submission?

I had a serious look at the Nikon D800 with two lenses as high broadcast quality (?), but the weight would be about triple the GH2.
Thanks for any input! (I will post this to the Nikon and Panasonic forums too)
