Sigma 50mm f1.4 Focus Issues - Any good copies?

Yes, I bought it locally as well. Did not notice the issue at first. When I did, I took it in and they verified the issue - could not get an accurate shot at anything of any distance. Sent it back, got a new copy. Same exact thing. So I just got my money back. Tried again a few months later. First one tested in the store had the issue. Second one appeared to be fine. After editing my wedding photos however, it clearly was not - especially compared to the Canon 50mm that we also had at our disposal. Sold the Sigma on ebay for about what I bought it for (minus fees ) and got a Canon back. I'm sure there are those that work, but I don't have the time or energy to mess around with it anymore. Also, upon further review, the CA was pretty nasty in certain lighting environments at high apertures, so it's not a total loss.
