Pretty Much on Board for M8, which lenses???
Feb 12, 2012

Hello again all,

Thanks so much for all the advice on buying a used M8. Im 90% on board (I just really wanted to try one out first). Im pretty sure I will wait until BH has a used Black one. Though does anyone know if there are good forums were one could be had for a good price and are a pretty safe place to purchase? (Its a little scary sending $2K to a stranger:) Also will Leica honor a warranty on a used camera like the M8? BH will always sell for more but has a return option just in case.

Now I'm not sure which lenses to check out for it? I will have a budget all together of about $4K. I would really like something faster than F/2, although unfortunately I don't think I will be able to afford a Summilux so I am flexible. The lenses I have it narrowed it down to are the Zeiss 35 or 50/2 Biogon, look for a used Leica 50 Summicron F/2. Or also the Voigtlander 35 1.4 and Zeiss 50 1.5 Sonnar could be good as well. Any feedback from users of these lenses would be really appreciated. Is the Voigtlander sharp wide open? Does it have that 3D feel? What are good prices to pay for them (and possible where to get them used as well). I think I will pretty much look for a used Summicron (as I would like at least 1 Leica lens) but can be swayed in other directions if there are better lenses to be had for the price. I really do like my Pentax set up so I am in no rush, though if I am going to switch systems I would like time to really get to know the camera before the wedding I am going to shoot in May. Thanks again to all in advance. If anyone has examples that would be great too.
