D800 - crop modes not masked

According to a report on Nikon Rumors, the D800's crop modes are not masked in the viewfinder (a la D3/D3x) - instead they are denoted by a line in the viewfinder.

I was surprised and excited that Nikon had implemented a 4:5 crop mode on the D800. I shoot editorial, and it's useful for shooting full bleed single pages. But it sounds like the implementation is half-baked. What a shame - I guess we'll have to wait another 4 years for a feature that is commonplace on high end compact cameras to appear on an SLR.
