Yes, they seem instant, and this is not good for User Experience (UX) and can be a pain.

DPreview should use JQuery Hover Intent, which shows menus only when the cursor slows or stops on the menu item.

This is more sophisticated than a simple delay, as produces very little to no delay when a menu item is wanted, and prevents menus popping up when the pointer is simply moving past them.
