Is Nikon D800 any good for sports/street?

Is Nikon D800 any good for sports/street?

I have been read around, it seems that the general census is that the d800 is a studio camera where light is sufficient and subject is stationary.

What about for sport and and low light photography? Will the D800 suffice or should I stick with D700?
