Good point but in reality how many people have problems with their lens, other than not sharp enough, soft corners etc from day one, you then take it back straight away.
Many years ago I had a Tamron zoom develop a mechanical problem after three years of use, it was great to have it fixed free of charge. And I'm now wishing my Canon 24-105mm L lens had a six year warranty!
