D800, where does it leave Leica?

Compare the Leica S2 and D800(E), the S2 has a sensor with 56% more area, but the Nikon's sensor is likely 60% more efficient and with much less electronic noise. As a camera, the Nikon will produce lower noise images. Lenses? Larger range and price to Nikon, quality to Leica. Looks in the end that the S2 can't compete, but then Leica cameras don't quite have to, somehow.

On the other hand, the rumour mill says Leica has made a deal for Sony sensors (already uses one in the X1), so what if the M10 uses this 36MP sensor? With the Leica lenses, that could be quite a camera.
