Re: DP2M and DP1M

Thanks for the list with X100 for comparison since it is one of my wish list for low light. Yet, I doubt the x100 will get any cheaper due to its style and build. It's just different.

I think, the DP2M weighs 11.6oz since it has less volume.

Yeah, the battery couldn't be significantly bigger. The battery life could be worse than the DP since Sigma would not have bothered with a new battery if not necessary.

I'm more on the positive side regarding the lens. If you read some comments, these lens designs are very familiar and being sold to m4/3 and NEX system. I feel there's going to be an interchangeable DP if the Digital Neo line proves to be successful.

Here are the specs in the American system of measurement. DP2M is actually smaller and lighter and the lens is shorter (easily discernible from the PDF). Fuji X100 for comparison.

DP1 4.5 x 2.3 x 2.0 8.8 oz 20.7 cu in
DP1M 4.8 x 2.6 x 2.5 12.0 oz 31.2 cu in
DP2 4.5 x 2.3 x 2.2 9.2 oz 22.7 cu in

DP2M 4.8 x 2.6 x 2.3 11.6 oz 28.7 cu in (listed as 12.0 oz in another spot on PDF)
X100 5.0 x 3.0 x 2.2 15.8 oz 33.0 cu in

The battery is the BP-41 as opposed to the BP-21. It can't be much bigger given the physical specs. I would guess that the battery counts will be less than the non-M versions so plan on carrying a few extra batteries.

On the plus side the LCD is 3.0 and about 920K pixels - similar to a D300. We should get good detail when magnifying.

I am optimistic that the optics will be up to snuff to do the sensor justice. The non-M 1 & 2 were the younger Yamaki's babies and he did a great job with those lenses.

Exciting time for Sigma.
